It was the summer of 1958 and I was a 13 year old camper at a summer camp in the Catskill Mountains. My counselor, Mike, had a relatively new 1957 Corvette. In the evenings Mike would reward his campers with a ride through the winding roads of the Catskills. After my ride all I could think about was that someday I would have one of these Corvettes.
As the years went on and I went to high school and then college, I thought often about owning a Corvette. I then met my wife, bought a house and started a family. I frequently said to my wife that I would like to buy a Corvette. She would reply “someday.”
Well as circumstances would be, my wife and I separated in 1978. I met another woman, Elaine and I told her about my desire to own a Corvette. She encouraged me. So in 1979, I bought my first Vette.
Elaine and I married in 1983. Since that time I’ve owned five Corvettes. Now I own a 2002 C5 that I bought new with my wife’s help and encouragement. I have a wonderful wife and a terrific hobby. I have been interested in Corvettes for over 50 years and owned them for over 30 years.
