At age 5 yrs I was intrigued by the Corvette. I remember walking past and being captivated by the aggressive shape-it looked fast standing still. I had to stand on my toes to peer inside at the racy interior and sharp look. The Corvette continued to evolve into an awesome machine as I grew into teenage years (the thundering big block 427s were my favorite). I became an avid fan and Zora Arkus Duntov should have had the Nobel prize for science-he was the Einstein of performance cars in my mind. (Enzo Ferrari would be runner-up).
At 19 my first sporty car- a well used mechanical disaster a FIAT 850-(Fix It Again Tony) -- any chance of having a Corvette was a long way off. However I followed the developments of the ‘Vette into 70s, 80s, 90s until the C5 with its aerodynamic shape, HUD and LS1 engine which I bought in 2001. The Corvette just exudes power, grace and has a presence. I don't miss the FIAT.
