Marv Alpern
The officers and members of the NGCA are deeply saddened by the passing of Marv Alpern on February 21, 2013. He was 76. Marv was a quiet, unassuming, friendly man whose personality made him easy to like. He loved his 1958 Panama Yellow Corvette and spent hours tinkering with it, keeping it in tip-top shape. He also loved our club, even more so than most of us realized. He regularly participated in meetings, car shows, cruise nights and other club functions. A beloved member since 2004, to him NGCA was much more than a club; it had become a part of his family. Marv was a dedicated member who touched and inspired many lives and will always remain in our hearts.

Charlie Barber
Charlie joined Natural Glass on April 23, 2014. He would frequently say how much the club meant to him but conversely, he meant a lot to the club. Charlie’s personality was infectious, always smiling, always with a positive attitude. He was another one that if you met him, you instantly liked him. Charlie succumbed to prostate cancer. The cancer was unrelenting for years, but he was unrelenting in his fight against it. He never let it slow him down. If he could possibly attend a meeting, a cruise night, or a club event, he did! He set an example for us all. Rest in Peace, Charlie. You will be missed. Charlie was 71.

Don Ciardi
The officers and membership of the NGCA are shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing of Don Ciardi on October 31, 2010. He was 57. Don, a member since 2003, was part of the core foundation of the club. He exuded enthusiasm and love for Corvettes, the club and more importantly, the people. Everyone who knew Don was touched by his smile, dedication and friendship. His friendship was limitless. His dedication was unparalleled. His smile meant you were talking to a true friend. Few members put as much time and energy into our club as Don. He will always remain in our hearts.

Ray Carney
The officers and members mourn the passing of Club member Ray Carney. Ray, a member since 1996, was a special man who always made new members feel welcome when they joined the Club. He was a multi-faceted individual who worked tirelessly to promote the club and the Corvette hobby. He was a Master Ambassador to the National Corvette Museum. It was an honor to have such a dedicated, enthusiastic and devoted person as a cornerstone of our Club. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Jim Fennessey
The officers and membership mourn the passing of long-time club member, Jim Fennessey. Jim passed away on March 13, 2020 at age 80. Jim, who served in the past as an NGCA officer was the second most senior member of the club, having joined in 1981. He loved the club and got involved in many of the club gatherings and functions. Known for his colorful shirts and winning smile, he was one of the most car-knowledgeable people I have ever been honored to know. As groups of us would attend a car show or event with him, we could count on learning a few minute details about the vehicles we were exploring. The man was an automotive encyclopedia. Jim was a gentleman who was easy to know and easy to like. He was He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Gene Fitzpatrick
The members of Natural Glass are saddened at the passing of club member, Gene Fitzpatrick. Gene passed away on April 10, 2020 at age 71. Gene was an extremely well-liked guy who had an incredibly quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was a genuine guy who loved his beloved wife Cindylu, the NY Jets, the Rolling Stones and our club. Even in his 60’s, he skydived and rode ziplines. Whenever you saw Gene, it was almost guaranteed he would be wearing shorts. That was his trademark, even in the coldest of weather. He touched the lives of many and will be warmly remembered by all who knew him.

Carolyn Hetman
The officers and membership mourn the passing of long time club member, Carolyn Hetman. Carolyn passed away on October 7, 2023. She was a very active member of the club, having served as club secretary for 2 years along with maintaining the club calendar, helping schedule social dinners and, with her husband Matt, attending just about every meeting, club event and trip we had. Carolyn was a pleasure to be around and without fail, wore a winning smile. RIP Carolyn.

Scott Madsen
The officers and membership of the NGCA are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of club member Scott Madsen on October 8, 2010. He was 56. Scott, a member since 1998, owned and operated Madsen Auto Restoration in Mine Hill, NJ and utilized his expertise on many club members’ cars. Scott was well known in the Corvette hobby and has built and/or restored many top level Corvettes and muscle cars. His smile, friendship and knowledgeable conversations will be sorely missed. Our deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

Kathy Sisco

Frank Spath
The officers and membership mourn the passing of club member, Frank Spath. Frank passed away on October 26, 2023. Known for his bear-like handshake, Frank was very mechanically inclined and with his wife, Elaine, joined in on as many fun runs, trips and events as they could. Fun Fact – Frank had a small role as a soldier in the Fort Knox scene in the 1965 James Bond film, “Goldfinger”. RIP, Frank.
